Zito: GTK frontend to eix

Zito is my newest programming project. Zito is a GTK frontend to the popular eix search tool and is written in Java and Java-Gnome. It’s still in a heavily alpha stage but is coming along nicely. I have a TODO list but it doesn’t contain anywhere near the amount of things that actually still need to be done. Basic searching and the presentation of the results is working.

Any recommendations would be appreciated at this point. Also, I suck massively at any kind of graphic design and Zito needs an icon. It would be greatly appreciated if someone contributed an icon. Currently Zito lacks a build system, so I don’t expect many people to jump on board and test it in its current alpha stage. Also this is the first time I’ve used launchpad and bzr for a public project, so I’m still trying to figure everything out.

Here’s a screenshot of Zito in action:

calling it launchbad is a little ungrateful, they’re giving you free hosting.

Wow I didn’t even realize I typed that. Must have been subconsciously :P .

Great to hear another java-gnome up is in the horizon. For a build system, I may help you with Ant.

    Keep up the good work.

What’s mean word “zito”? Also any clues, what icon should looks?

Cool app. No way to separate USE flags?

Woow looks pretty ( even for a gtk application :P ).

    Very nice work :)

I like the intention behind it, but Java? Such a huge dep for an app which most probably won’t even run on another distro? Seems like overkill to me, but anyway, keep it up :)

Zito was pretty much just arbitrarily made up on the spot as a code name for the project and it just stuck. No clue on what the icon should even look like.

Not at the moment. Later on I could theoretically tweak it to separate the USE flags.
